Vue's "Access Slim" plan costs $29.99 each month for 45 channels. Notably absent channels include Comedy Central, MTV, Spike, and Nickelodeon. Sony Vue isn't as cheap as a Sling TV subscription (which starts at $20 a month), but it has many more channels to choose from. Really though, chances are good that if you cut the cord and just take the money that you were paying for cable and spend it on buying digital TV shows, you'll end up saving money in the long run because you'll end up spending less each year. The service starts at $30 per month for Full HD streaming, and Sony offers four separate pricing tiers that vary in channel offerings. Hell, you could even juggle some of that by buying less shows, and paying for something like MLB.tv (for baseball) if you're a hardcore sports fan of one type. And that's assuming you watch nothing on Netflix or Amazon. Most people don't watch that many different shows in a year. So, you'd be able to afford somewhere between 30-35 different seasons each year. Most of these give you new shows the day after they air, in HD, with no commercials. Let's say that leaves you with between $800 - $850/yr to spend on shows.Ī typical, new release season is usually around $25 for HD (less for some, more for GoT because dat HBO GoT tax). Looking at your total cost OP, you've got $90 x 12 = $1,080/yr on TV.įigure Amazon + Netflix eats up around $225 or so of that (ballparking because there are different levels of Netflix subs based on simultaneous streams). If you don't care about sports (or can get the sports you need via an OTA antenna), you are much better off with Amazon Prime + Netflix, and then just buying the shows you watch as full seasons from Amazon, iTunes, VUDU, Xbox, etc. It does have "Recommended" and "Last Channels" in a menu, but not like 1 button that instantly goes to your last channel like on TV. It's not bad when on an iPad, phone, or computer, but whenw atching it on your TV I don't think it has that 1 button "Last Channel" (it might but I just don't know). Some things like "Last Channel" button I miss.Once the Xbox app came out I bought an IR remote for the Xbox and it's really similar to watching live TV. Like it was fine to use "your phone as a remote" but it wasn't as good as using a remote control. ![]()
